Autumnal Looks in Orange for 2022

Just like with the cool blues of winter and the perky yellows and whites of summer, autumn tends to fall the warm oranges and brown categories when thinking of colour palettes for the pending season. With autumn bringing summer trees to a cast, so does the feelings of summer ending and the beginnings of cooler days. With that, brings the gloriousness of our favourite season: hoodies, jeans, long-sleeved dresses and cosy autumnal coats. Not quite ready to fully commit to removing our hats, scarves and gloves from our wardrobe storage bags, but enough that we can no longer brave the crisp air with bare arms and legs! Here we’re going to go through our favourite orange autumnal looks that you can easily contribute to your current wardrobe. So whether you’re after a new dress for work, a cosy coat for evening walks or simply new autumnal accessories then we have you covered. The Colour Orange and Its Meaning Orange is noted as a prime autumnal shade. The colour orange in general is believed to symbolise energy, vitality, adventure and warmth. The Autumnal Orange That Goes With Your Skin-tone Unlike other colours, orange can sometimes feel difficult to wear depending on your skin tone. Best suited to darker skins, orange can, on occasion, wash out lighter skin tones. Which is why you should attempt to accessorise around it, to allow for each item to stand out. Here we briefly go through what skin tones suit what shades of orange. Please note: It's important to remember you own personal style, just because it is suggested that certain shades of colours don't suit your skin tone doesn't mean you shouldn't wear it if you like it! Olive Skin-Tones and Orange Dresses Whether it's worn upon lipstick or clothing, it is said that olive skin tones best suit burnt orange or tangerine shades. Dark Skin-Tones and Orange Dresses For darker skin-tones we suggest pairing with lighter shades of orange, however even bold orange shades can look amazing on you. Light Skin-Tones and Wearing Orange Bright oranges can, on occasion, overwhelm a lighter skin tone and even make the person look washed out. For this reason, we suggest opting for the deeper end of the shade and go for a dull orange tone. Office Looks in the Colour Orange Wearing a full colour palette has never been more suited that it is in the autumnal months. With orange making its re-entrance, there are plenty of looks to try out. Including our Amatis dress which we feel goes with this NaaNaa coat and Passion Stilettos. For a more chic nod, we suggest pairing this look with either black or orange tights, like these stand-out pairs from Snag Tights and chunky boots. Buy now: Amatis Pencil Dress £59 (was £99), NaaNaa Check Coat in Orange £30.60 (was £110), Passion Stilettos £34. Chic Autumnal Orange Wedding Guest Dresses With autumn weddings offering a multitude of benefits, including of course stunning themes and autumnal light, there is also the added benefit of wearing something a little different to what you would have in the summer. Where, in the summer, you may have opted for shorter sleeves, thin cover-ups (it's the UK after all!) and bare legs, autumn comes with a different promise. So, whilst wearing something cute is essential, it's just as important that your chosen look protects you from the cooler elements all the while looking amazing. No floor length coats required just yet! Our choice for autumn wedding guest vibes is our Mulberry Off-Shoulder dress. Available in two bright shades, we would opt for the Grenadine Orange for this time of year. Its fully lined bodice acts as an extra layer of comfort, whilst the bodice also being tailored ensures a flattering fit. Additionally, the off shoulder style also features a folded Bardot neckline using our luxury moss crepe fabric. With the dress being a stunning bold shade, we suggest pairing it with equally bright footwear, or go for a simple statement platform white number. Buy now: Mulberry Off-Shoulder Pencil Dress £169, Passion Stilettos £34, Paul Costelloe Cross Body Bag in Orange £60 (was £150). Date Night Outfit in Orange Chic Choosing what to wear for date night can sometimes be as exciting as the date itself, right? Don’t worry, we have you covered for the perfect date night look that will have you looking stunning. First, we suggest our Athens ripple crepe fabric dress. It features a plunging neckline with a concealed back fastening. Where a simple plunging-neckline dress can require little else, we suggest adding some accessories to glitz up the evening. A necklace, for example, like this Accessorize one, is perfectly suited to our Athens dress. The dress features a plunging neckline detail which allows for more dramatics in the accessorising department. Specifically one that makes the most of the deep-plunge detail! When it comes to footwear, however, with a dress this kind of shade its always a good idea to choose a shade that will stand out instead of washing out your skin tone. If you’re darker skinned then this shade would work perfect for you, paired with white or equal coral shoes. Alternatively, if you have a lighter skin tone then with this shade, there is a possibility it’ll be too light against if paired with an equally light shoe. So, we suggest pairing it with a different accessory. For example, if you’re opting to use a bag then choose a similar shade to that. Our favourite choice is below.   Buy now: Athens Sleeveless Pencil Dress £49 (was £125), Prize Tie Leg Heeled Shoes £30, Camellia HOBBS Coral Coat £85 (was £219). The Hint of Orange Autumnal Chic Look Just because we love the orange shade of autumn doesn’t mean you need to wear it head to toe! Our Ellen Contour dress is a calming dark shade with coral, orange and peach-like flowers upon it. There are many reasons to love floral materials at this time of year, one of them being the variety of colours within each gives you other shades to mix with when accessorising. With the stunning floral shades in our Ellen dress, we suggest pairing it with these similarly coloured shoes and cute necklace.   Buy now: Ellen Contour Dress £69 (was £129), Limited Collection Dark Green Block Heel £29.99, Ted Baker Exclusive Sininaa Necklace with Green Pendant £25.50 (was £30). Can we talk about wearing lilac?

Are lilac and lavender the same? In all honesty, it would be fair to assume that both are the same since they are so similar. However, they're actually not. Most often seen as the lighter of the two, Lavender has a blue tint, whereas lilac has a pink hue. Most people tend to refer to lavender as the flowering plant and lilac as the colour, however, both are colours and flowering plants in their own right. Finding whether a colour is cool or warm is fairly easy to do. Whilst using the colour wheel, the warmer colours we can see include red, yellow and orange. What's more, colours that have a red, yellow or orange tint are also warm colours. Whereas shades like blue, purple and green are cool colours…. This could then lead you to believe that lilac which does resemble a form of purple, should be a cool colour – when it is actually classed as warm due to its pink tint. Furthermore, Lavender, since it has a blue tint, is a cool colour. Why should I wear lilac? As we all know, wearing colour can have hidden meanings. Lighter purple shades, similar to the likes of lilac, as said to be associated with light-hearted and romantic energies. Best described as a gentle shade, you can wear lilac with a number of other colours without the worry of clashing or overdoing it. Similar musky-toned colours, like mustard yellow or emerald green, can pair beautifully with lilacs. So, for this reason, you should definitely freshen’ up your wardrobe with some lilac. What skin tone best suits lilac? One of the top benefits of lilac is that it is a complementary colour to the majority of skin tones. Where a harsh dark colour may flush against an olive skin tone or pale blue may wash out the colour of a light skin tone, lilac blends easily.   How to inject lilac into your wardrobe Injecting colour into your wardrobe can be one of the easiest things to do to really freshen up your looks. What’s more, with a warm soft shade like lilac you’re not just limited to wearing the colour from your wardrobe. Instead, you can incorporate the colour through means of accessories, like bags and purses, to footwear, makeup and even hair dye. With it being summer, you’ll find that lilac items are easier to come by! Pictured from L to R: Cranston Pencil Skirt Dress £99 (was £129), SEED Mayfield Pencil Dress £125, Luma Off-Shoulder Dress £115, Donna Short Sleeved Pencil Dress £125, Mariposa Off Shoulder Dress £145. Other ways you can add lilac into your looks     How to style a lilac dress Adding to a lilac dress can be a really simple thing to do, but understandably you might be unsure on what to do and/or what not to do. Personally, we would suggest that if the majority of the outfit is already lilac then it’s always a good idea to incorporate a different colour into the mix. As previously mentioned, lilac goes with the majority of skin tones as well as other colours. However, there are colours that the shade goes perfect with and we’ll go more into detail about those below. Shades that pair perfectly with lilac include orange, yellow, olive green and white. Additionally, equal hues also work great including touches of grey and rose quartz. Where you may find that matching accessories are the go-to, you always have the option of adding some contrasting coloured items. For example, lilac with blue can stand out in more ways than one.   Lilac Outfit Accessories With lilac being a popular, feminine shade it is usually available all year round. Whilst suits, dresses and tops can all look amazing within a lilac colouring, there are also other accessories up for grabs. Here are just a few of our favourites. Buy now: Topshop Reuben Padding High Mule £33.75 (was£45) Buy now: New Look Lilac Clear Strap Shoe £29.99 Buy now: Steve Madden Skylar Bootie £90 (was £150) What colour footwear goes with lilac clothes? Like many other colours, wearing lilac doesn’t have to stop at the ankles! If you’re outfit already features touches of lilac then there is certainly no harm in including it within the footwear too. Alternatively, we suggest checking out the paragraph above about colour matching to your lilac shade and a different, yet compatible, footwear shade that way! Our bestselling lilac dresses for summer 2022 Our Luma Off-Shoulder dress is created using our bi-stretch fabric and features a contrast bow around the waist with a sweetheart neckline. Its 3/4 length sleeves combined with the bow waist detail cinch in the waist and allow it to flow to knee level. Buy now: Luma Off Shoulder Pencil Dress £115 Our Paige Bi-Stretch dress is similar to the Luma Off-Shoulder dress as it also features a bow, however, an additional black seam around the dress accentuates the upper silhouette. 6 Ways to Wear One Solid Colour

Wearing a solid colour can help lengthen an elegant silhouette, plus it also looks pretty chic when all correctly combined. Here we're going to go through our favourite Diva Catwalk dresses and accessories that we suggest you pair with them to allow you to rock the solid colour outfit look.     What Are the Benefits of Wearing a Solid Colour Outfit? There are a number of benefits to wearing an outfit of solid colour, they include: 1. Whatever shade you decide to wear in full, it can work amazingly as a blank canvas to allow you to incorporate the brightest, boldest accessories.2. Choosing one colour to wear can mean that you can choose a bold, stand-alone colour or pattern to wear elsewhere. For example, if you were to choose a full pink outfit then you could opt to wear shoes or eyeshadow in a completely opposite colour3. Wearing your favourite colour can boost your mood. Whether you choose to wear it once or on your full look, wearing your favourite shade can boost your mood and, as a result, have your confidence soar.4. You can actually save time. By choosing to wear the same full colour, you automatically shrink down the choice of clothing to wear for that day. Instead of picking out different colours and patterns, you’ve minimised the amount to go through without a thought. What’s more, one of the great things about wearing your chosen colour, is that whilst you'll be keen on wearing the same solid colour throughout, you can incorporate different shades and tones of the chosen colour. For example, rose gold noted accessories would look stunning against a lighter pink top. Looking Pretty in Pink in Summer Dresses   For a complete Yarrow Pink combination, we suggest pairing our chic Donna Short Sleeved dress with the JL Weaved Clutch bag, KG shoes and the stunningly chic Mango blazer. One of the great things abut wearing a pink colour, like Yarrow Pink, is that it can be suitably worn all year round. Simply choose to pair with similar coloured tights or socks, add a scarf and/or knee-length boots and you're onto a winner. Buy now: Donna Short-Sleeved Dress £125,  John Lewis and Partners Weaved Clutch Bag £45, Carvela Second Skin Kurt Geiger Shoes £49 (was £99) and Mango Suit Blazer £59.99 (was £89.99).   The Best of both Green and Blue   Here we have reached out to our Teal lovelies. There are a few stunning teal pieces at Diva Catwalk, including our Riviera dress and our velvet Madelyn dress. However, for this look, we have our Sasha High Neck in mind. With the dress being high-neck and long-sleeved, you’re best to keep accessories to a minimum. We simply loved the look of the Next suede bag and, even more so, we are obsessed with the price of the Block Sandals - Barg! Buy now:  Sasha High Neck Dress £99, Yours Clothing Block Heel Sandals £29.99, Suede Tote Handbag £86 Orange You Pleased to See Me   When you think of the colour orange, what do you think of? Us, we think of sunshine, OJ, early 2000’s foundation and sand between our toes. Next up, with orange in mind, we have the Mulberry Off-Shoulder dress. Currently available in 2 other shades, it’s a guaranteed showstopper. Here we suggest pairing it with these cute Stradivarius Espadrille wedges and Calvin Klein Flat Crossbody bag. With the dress offering a lower-than-normal Bardot style, we suggest pairing it with a necklace like this intricate, and rather stunning, mini orange necklace. Available from Wolf and Moon, it's made using recycled orange and gold mirror acrylic leaves and carried on a gold plated chain. Buy now: Mulberry Off-Shoulder Dress £169, Stradivarius Espadrille Heeled Wedges £29.99, CK Crossbody Bag £56 (was £80) and Wolf & Moon Orange Necklace £32. The Sun is up and the Sky is Blue Cobalt blue is one of the most loved shades worn by celebrities and royalty alike, so to incorporate into a solid one-look outfit, you know you’re onto good things! This time we have chosen our Gately Long-Sleeved dress that features a centre-bust twist using our Marvel Stretch fabric. Next, we’ve chosen to pair it with a cute soft crepe blazer from Next and a recycled Calvin Klein bag. Finally, to complete the look we simply love the look of these Stiletto court shoes available from Boohoo.   Buy now: Gately Long-Sleeved dress £149, Next Soft Crepe Blazer £40, Recycled CK Bag £75 (was £150) and Cobalt Blue Stiletto £20 (was £25).    The Sun is Shining Yellow Dresses   For the glorious tones of yellow, we’ve opted to introduce our Bodiam Sleeveless Frilled pencil dress in Blazing Yellow. 6 Ways to Wear One Solid Colour

How to Wear Purple - The Best Purple Colour Dresses UK

How to Wear Purple Purple can be a notoriously difficult colour to wear if not done correctly. Alas, the hues locked within purple can be seen as cheerful, whimsical and playful. Often associated with magical images, see Disney and their much-loved princesses, it is a colour often adored but not worn as much as others. Here we're going to go through our favourite purple dresses from Diva Catwalk and discuss what shades will suit you best, depending on your undertone (and how to find out what undertone you have!) The meaning behind the colour purple The colour purple is one of those colours that go perfectly through each day of the year, changing its shade as the seasons do. With the colour often associated with royalty, power and luxury, we thought it best to go through our favourite purple dresses you can get your hands on.   How to wear purple The colour wheel is a visual representation of colours, with hues arranged according to wavelength. Colour wheels allow colour relationships to represent geometrically and show the relationship between primary colours, secondary colours and tertiary colours – Invision App Using the colour wheel for the colour purple Using the colour wheel, we can source the best colours to wear with purple and what suits it best overall. So, whether you’re looking for accessories to pair with your purple dress or deciding on what colour of shoes suits you best, we have you sorted! To begin, we follow two of the colour schemes when pairing with clothing. First, we have the complementary colour scheme, which tends to be shades that are found opposite the chosen colour – in this case, purple. The colours opposite purple here are a combination of both yellow and greens. Next, we have the analogous colour scheme. The Analogous colour scheme is one that takes the shades found beside the chosen colour. So, the analogous scheme for purple would be shades of blue and red. Complementary Colour Looks for Purple Analogous Colour Looks for Purple What shades of purple suit my skin tone? The great thing about the colour purple is that you can easily find the right shade for your own skin tone. To begin, we would suggest you identify your skin tone using one, or a mix, of the following methods: Check your veins Sourcing the veins under your skin will aid in helping you find out what your skin tone is. For example, if you find that your veins have a blue hue then it’s suggested you have a cool skin tone, whereas if you see shades of green then it's a warm skin tone. And, finally, if you can't tell what hues your veins have between either shade then you have a neutral skin tone. The Silver/Gold Test You may find that certain types of jewellery suit your skin better. If you find that gold suits you, then you’re likely to have cool undertones. However, if silver is more your bag then you’ll have warm undertones. Review Your Skins Reaction to the Sun If you find that your skin burns easily, then you're the proud owner of a cool undertone. Alternatively, if your skin tans easily, you'll find that you have a warm undertone. If, like many, you burn and then tan you could have a neutral undertone. Purple Shades to go with Cool Undertones It's been found that fair skin, with cool undertones, best suit lighter purple shades like lilac. The worry is that a darker purple could result in the skin looking washed out and/or tired. You also don't want to go to pale, like pastel purple, as this could have the same effect so try to incorporate different colours, such as white to help break it up. Purples that suit Cool Undertones: Purple Shades to go with Warm Undertones Warm undertones are fortunate in that the majority of purple shades suit them. You can complement darker purples with lighter accessories, and lighter purples pair perfectly with the warm complexion. Purples that suit Warm Undertones   Our Favourite Purple Dresses at Diva Catwalk The Lydia Our best-selling purple dress remains to be our Lydia ¾ Sleeved Plain dress. Shine Bright in our Amazing Emerald Green Looks

Created using a mixture of both blue and yellow, emerald green is a noted shade that is much loved in fabrics and home decor. What colors make emerald green? Whilst it may have one descriptive title, emerald green doesn't fall into one shade of colour instead, there are many different hues. Just like with pinks, where you may find pastel pink and fuchsia pink, with emerald green the more you use each blue and yellow colour the darker the overall hue will be. Fun Fact: Emerald green is a bright blue-green named after the precious gemstone, which gets its distinctive colour from trace amounts of chromium and vanadium. [c: opusartsupplies.com] The History of Emerald Green You may, quite rightly, assume that a colour like emerald green is one that came around just by simply mixing colours. However, this is not the case. In fact, there is quite a bit of dark history on how we achieved, and are now able to wear, emerald green today. It is said that Emerald green was developed in an attempt to improve Scheele's green. This copper aceto-arsenite pigment was first produced commercially by the firm of Wilhelm Sattler at Schweinfurt, Germany in 1814. Trying to improve on Scheele's green, the development of a colour that featured a highly toxic pigment (that we now know to be emerald green) began. At the point of development, this paint became a firm favourite to oblivious painters and fabric creators, among many others. With the shade being a hit with both developers and customers, it raced through the markets to be used on various items. From clothing to beauty products, candles, wallpaper and even toys, each experienced the emerald green effect. It wasn't until the release of the ingredients for the paint in 1822, that it became clear what the contents of the liquids really were. With many users of the paint later falling ill and dying, there was the finding of the source of the poison being, in fact, arsenic. Not only were painters, decorators and fabric creators working with this paint against their skin on a regular basis, but so were the wearers of said garments. Despite the banning of the original emerald green pigment in the early 1900s, the colour has still remained a popular colour in artists' palettes with safer ingredients. The Meaning of Emerald Green Like all others colours, emerald green is said to have a hidden meaning. The colour green as a whole is said to signify abundance, prosperity and growth. As well as this, of course, it is a simply stunning colour. It is still being loved all these years later, including a recent popularity increase in the beginnings of the 2020s. What colours go with emerald green clothing? Using the colour theory wheel, we can easily pair the perfect shades with our emerald green items. Below we show the wheel we suggest using and how to use it! The colour wheel is a visual representation of colours, with hues arranged according to wavelength. Colour wheels allow colour relationships to represent geometrically and show the relationship between primary colours, secondary colours and tertiary colours – Invision App Using the colour theory wheel, you can use both complementary and analogous schemes to combine into the perfect outfit. Complementary colours of green include shades that are opposite it on the wheel, which include reds, oranges and pinks. The shades on either side of the green on the wheel, the Analogous colours, include lighter greens and blues. Complementary Colour Theory Looks The following looks have been chosen using the Complementary colour theory, so shades that match Emerald Green that belong opposite it on the colour wheel. Analogous Colour Theory Looks These looks have been chosen using the Analogous colour theory rule. So, these are shades that match Emerald Green - and they belong on either side of it on the colour wheel. Additionally, we'll explain how we would accessorise it and where to get your hands on them. Interesting fact: Whilst shades of white are said to represent both purity and innocence, it actually symbolises an even level of both perfection and balance. With white almost laying down a background, it allows you to add any kind of colour on top. Here, we're briefly going through some of our favourite statement cover-ups. What's more, we guarantee they will pair perfectly with your white dress - whether it's office or event! Powdered Pink and white may feel reminiscent of delicious marshmallows and childhood, but hear us out! This super cute 'Aleida Tri Blazer' is available in three different shades from All Saints. Whilst we do genuinely love all three, we feel the powered pink just tops it. Buy now: Powdered Pink Aleida Tri Blazer £149 Footwear with pink and white Whilst there are a variety of powdered pink shoes available, we suggest that you choose a darker pink. Why? Well, this is purely down to the fact that the combination of the white dress & light pink blazer is a whole-lorra-pastel. By interjecting some colour, like a neon pink or fuchsia, then you’re guaranteed to have that statement outfit ticked off. Standing Bold in Cobalt KarenMillen.com is currently having a sale with up to 50% off various seasonal must-haves. So, naturally, we jumped straight onto their website to find any of our favourites that are already bookmarked. Here, we've chosen the Compact Stretch Single Breasted Jacket (which is currently available in three shades), our favourite shade being the bright Cobalt. Pairing shoes that match this bright shade shouldn’t be too difficult as it does seem to be one of the favourite shades of the season. Buy now: Compact Stretch Single Breasted Jacket £107 Footwear with Cobalt and White A quick search online prompts these Stradivarius Pointed Court Heeled Shoes at a mere £19.99. Or, you could opt for a soft finish pair of asymmetric stiletto shoes from Mango at a comfortable £25.99 (pre-sale £35.99). And, finally, last but not least, there is the suede sandal luxurious option from Guess that's available for £84 (down from £120, you're practically saving money already... right? - that's what we tell ourselves anyway). What colours to wear with white? With white being a neutral colour, it's understandable if you're unsure on what shades to pair with it. Whilst in our other blogs about wearing colour we talk about the use of the colour theory wheel, this type of shade would not fall within that category (as it does not feature on the theory wheel). However, this gives the colour more availability for a suitable partner shade. Here we go through what shades go best with the colour white and why. Nude: Combining a nude heel with your white dress can not only help elongate your legs but it is also one of those stunning, yet simple, shades that go perfect with most skin tones. Black: Yes, it might seem stand off-ish to wear something that is the complete opposite of the shade your wearing but in actual fact it works and it works well! Opting for a monochrome look can be simply done and look exquisite. Metallic: For added shimmer without going bold with colour with your white dress we found that subtle metallic designs can look great. How to Wear Orange All Year Round

What is the psychology of the colour orange? Clothing in the colour orange not only looks fabulous but also comes with positive psychological reinforcement! With the shade viewed as optimistic and uplifting, it is believed to also rejuvenate our spirit. What's more, orange continues to bring spontaneity and positivity, which they say encourages motivation. What skin tone can wear orange? Wondering what skin tone suits orange is an unsurprisingly common question. The great thing about orange, among many other colours, is that there is a shade of it for everybody. Whether it’s a light pastel tone or a bright, bold shade. So, what shade of orange suits me? Here, we’re going to briefly go through a few of our favourite orange summer shades and offer what skin tones they suit best, and the reason behind it. It’s important to note that, although we suggest the following shades work well against certain skin tones, if you prefer your chosen shade (even if it goes against our suggestions) then please do go ahead and wear it! Rock the look and own it with confidence! Colour: Bright Orange Best Suits: Olive Skin tones Reason: The bright tone radiantly bounces off the olive skin tone instead of overpowering or washing out the skin. Colour: Pastel Orange Best Suits: Dark & Light Tones Reason: Just like bright orange, pastel orange can radiantly bounce off dark skin and really pop against your skin, making you glow. Having a fair, lighter tone or a dark, smooth tone, can work perfectly with a pastel shade – it allows the colour to pop. Whereas, a tone that is almost matching with the orange shade itself can give a washed-out appearance. Colour: Tangerine Orange Best Suits: Fair Skin tones Reason: The lighter the shade of orange, the lighter of skin tone is suits. With using a bright shade of tangerine orange against a fair skin tone, it mirrors the bright orange abilities in that it is a strong colour to POP against the fair skin tone beneath. Here we’re going to go through the perfect orange for you and how you can easily incorporate it into your wardrobe. How to incorporate orange into your wardrobe If you're not used to wearing shades of orange often then you may be a little nervous to delve in! Or should you only wear one type of orange? Should you wear orange head to toe? What other shades could you incorporate to give your appearance the overall 5 stars? Here, we’re going to find out! Note: We’ve previously mentioned the colour wheel in our past articles, so here’s a super quick refresh: “The colour wheel is a visual representation of colours, with hues arranged according to wavelength. Colour wheels allow colour relationships to represent geometrically and show the relationship between primary colours, secondary colours and tertiary colours – Invision App”So, with this information in mind, we can use the wheel, at speed, to find that complementary colours of orange are those opposite it on the wheel. Furthermore, analogous shades are those that are on either side of it [on the wheel]. So, to clarify: complementary shades of orange would include blues, purples and greens. Whereas, analogous shades would include yellows and reds. All of these shades pair kindly with orange, in their own special way! How to wear an orange dress From light orange dresses to bright, bold numbers, there are plenty of orange dresses to choose from. Here, we’re going to go through our favourite orange coloured dresses that we lovingly stock at Diva Catwalk.   How to wear orange dress shoes Orange dresses can go perfectly with orange shoes, fact! However, we recommend that other accessories are added in a different colour shade altogether when doing this. If, however, you choose to use your chosen shade of orange on your feet, and only your feet, then you should reach for complementary shades when completing the look. Complementary shades to orange include the likes of green and yellow, so blending these in will most definitely result in a showstopper. Here, we’ll share a few of our favourite dress and orange shoe combos! How to wear an orange coat An orange coat can be the only statement piece you need when overhauling your wardrobe. Whether you choose a bright orange coat or a flowing pastel number, you’re sure to look the star. Here we go through just a few of our favourite orange coat ensembles, which gives you plenty of ideas on how you too can style them all throughout the year. What makeup goes with an orange dress Just because your dress is orange it doesn’t mean you can’t add a subtle amount of orange into your makeup too. Yes, skipping the orange-toned foundation is a good idea, but using chic orange tints on your eyes or lips can really transform a look. Look on to see our favourite orange makeup pairings! The 5 Yellow dresses for Summer 2022

Why you should wear Yellow this summer It is said that Yellow is perhaps the most energetic of the warm colours. It is associated with laughter, hope and sunshine. Accents of yellow help give your design energy and will make the viewer feel optimistic and cheerful. So, whilst we're feeling like jumping into Summer (not long now, folks!) why not take the chance to bring Summer into our lives a little early?  What colour goes well all shades of Yellow? The colour yellow goes with a variety of other shades, however, these are typically other shades of the same strength. To find out more about matching shades we refer to the colour theory wheel. We’ve previously mentioned the colour wheel in our past articles, so here’s a super quick refresh: “The colour wheel is a visual representation of colours, with hues arranged according to wavelength. Colour wheels allow colour relationships to represent geometrically and show the relationship between primary colours, secondary colours and tertiary colours – Invision App” With looks in mind, we are going to focus on two of the colour wheel sections: complementary and analogous. Complementary simple means the colours that are found opposite your main shade. So, for a yellow shade, you might choose purple or blue. Whereas with Analogous, this refers to shades that are on either side of your chosen colour. So, again, for a yellow shade, you might choose to add green or orange, along with other shades of yellow. 5 Yellow Dresses You Need this Summer! The ¾ Sleeved Asymmetric dress Our SEED Orla Asymmetric dress is a glamourous piece that works at cinching material at the waist, aiding in providing the hourglass silhouette. The Yellow Jewellery It wouldn't feel acceptable for us to showcase how to wear yellow without mentioning why we are all drawn to love yellow in summer. Besides it being the shade of the sun, of course, we're also in awe of each little flower that makes its appearance from spring onwards. That's why our next accessory is this dainty buttercup flower pendant necklace. Subtle and chic, it would pair perfectly with any of our yellow designs. Buy now on NotOnTheHighStreet, £18 What shoes goes best with a yellow dress? Choosing the colour of your footwear when it comes to wearing a yellow dress is, understandably, different to choosing something to go with a black suit. We do, however, think that a variety of shades go with a yellow dress. Here we’re going to go through a few different styles that we think would go perfect with your yellow look. The Stiletto Taking some inspo from our Orla Asymmetric dress we can see that although black may not be the most blending of shades with yellow, it is a staple shade that goes with everything. These open-toe pin-buckle fastening stilettos offer height and elegance. Where we have paired them here with the image of our dress in mind, they are also perfectly paired for a more casual look (also pictured). Buy now via ASOS £27.99 The White Tie Stiletto It’s not very often that you can correctly fashion a white stiletto with a dress and not feel like you should be reaching for your nuptials. Alas, however, with the right shade of yellow in mind we find that the choice of wearing white shoes can pair perfectly. Here we’ve chosen the Public Desire pair that features both a high point heel and tie-leg design. Buy now via ASOS £32.99 Alternatively, you could also try these for size: the Nesha yellow tie stiletto, £38 Squared toed boots have been the trending item for many a winter, however, recently we've seen a surge in square-toed sandals. Here, we've chosen a short stiletto design that features a strappy tie and features the most sought-after sole. Buy now: Hiccup Strappy Tie Heel £28 The Yellow Flat Wearing heels is not essential when it comes to our dresses, which is why we adore these Call It Spring back strap sandals from ASOS. Its features are minimal, as expected, however, these cute sandals are statement pieces with a combination of both yellow and white with their sling-back strap. Our Customers in our Yellow dresses! The 10 Pink Dresses You Need For Summer 2022 - and How to Style Them

Why you should wear pink this summer The colour pink can mean a variety of things, from love to kindliness and femininity. Here we're going to go through our top 10 pink dresses that we think you should get your hands on right now. From our very own Nicola Frill dress to the ASOS Maxi dress of the Summer in bright pink (perfect for weddings, FYI!). What colour goes well with pink? Thankfully, pink is an easy colour to pair with. If you want to allow the dress to make a statement then you could use calmer shades against. Perhaps the use of white, cream or peach being ideal. If, however, you choose to blend the outfit together, then you could choose to use other variations of the pink shade you already have on. Personally, we love how navy and pink blend well together. As well as this, we love the idea of incorporating white and cream into the outfit, with other shades of pink and similar shades from the colour wheel we’ve discussed before. So, for pink, you might choose yellow or green. Whereas with Analogous, this refers to shades that are on either side of your chosen colour. So, again, for pink, you might choose to add purple, blue and red.   Colour Combinations for Complementary and Analogous Schemes   10 Pink Dresses You Need this Summer! This much-loved dress pairs perfectly with heels or, alternatively, you could opt to even wear it with trainers on warmer days. The dress has a round neckline which features a short slit. Additionally, there is pleat detail across the hip area and 3/4 sleeves. Our chosen shade, of course, would be the Yarrow Pink (but we do think we want every colour in our wardrobe). Buy now via Diva Catwalk £140   Accessories for my Pink Dress Pairing accessories with your dress can make or break the look you’re after. Here, we’re going to go through a few of our favourite bags and shoes. We have picked each accessory with the idea of a pink dress in mind, no matter the shade. This quilted, crossbody bag from Accessorize is super cute when worn with the bright pink dress we had in mind or when paired with a more casual look. With its detachable body strap, it means it can be used in a variety of ways. With its internal zip pocket, you can also be sure to keep your valuables safe wherever you choose to wear it. Buy now Accessorize via ASOS £27 Hopping on the Analogous scheme here we've chosen a small navy blue Dune bag next. With the cross-body strap and fastening, it would suit the pink dress or in a casual fit with denim, as pictured. Buy now Dune via ASOS £25.25 [was £65]   When we think of Ralph Lauren, we think of quality, heritage, fashion and, of course, Rachel from Friends… but we definitely don’t think ‘budget friendly’. However, this super sleek Chadwick Carter cross body bag surprised us at £58. It's a small bag, lightweight and made from durable fabric. With two zip compartments inside, you can be sure to have enough room for the equally small essentials. Lipstick, phone, cards and keys - done! Buy now via John Lewis £58 This chic number comes in with a rectangular body and a curb chain strap, and definitely turns heads! Essentially, this bag also includes zipped pockets and card slots, so you know they're secure. Whilst made of leather, this bag is available in an additional four shades. It is pretty spenny, but we adore the look of it and see it as the older, perhaps wiser, sister of the Accessorize quilted cross body. Buy Now via John Lewis £195 Footwear for your Pink Dress In our first shoe choice, we've instantaneously reached out to Kurt Geiger - a firm favourite! Their Shoreditch Sandal is available in three shades (Black, white and stunning Yellow). It's a simple design, with sleek strapwork around the front of the foot and a small signature eagle head charm on the ankle strap. These shoes are also leather and are available in sizes 3UK to 8UK. Buy now Kurt Geiger £149 In our second shoe choice, we've found a sleek chic pair of court shoes from L.K Bennet - available from John Lewis. The court shoe comes in two simple shades: navy suede or black suede. For this look, we have chosen the navy suede, however, the black could also work. Again, it's a simple design as a tall stiletto at around 10cm in height. As pictured, the navy shade is subtle and we adore it! These are available in more sizes than KG, with sizes 2UK to 8.5UK offered. Buy now LK Bennett via John Lewis £229 What jacket to wear with a pink dress? Choosing your cover-up for Spring/Summer can feel like a waste of time, especially when the sun peeks out. But, we have to remember that no matter how warm it may be, we are in the UK. Let's be realistic when it comes to the weather here. Here are a few of our favourite cover-up ideas. Our SEED Dawlish coat is the perfect coat to go from formal to casual and back again. Here we've chosen the Navy Blue shade as it would pair with the pink choices well, however, there is also Black and Salsa Red up for grabs. With it being designed to flatter all body shapes, this peplum effect coat aids in creating (or emphasising) an hourglass silhouette. Created using our Couture Stretch Fabric, and with a tailored fit in mind, our SEED Dawlish coat features a concealed zip closure for extra comfort and style. Buy now via Diva Catwalk £129 When oversized pieces made their way onto the catwalk we all knew they were going to be there for the long haul. Here, we’ve spotted a stunning grey ASOS DESIGN double breasted Dad blazer – a nod to being oversized and of great quality. With peak lapels, double-breasted style and pocket details, you're on to a winner with this blazer. Where it would look elegant draped over your shoulders, with the colour taking a stand back against the pink of your dress, it also offers comfort and warmth in its 'relaxed Dad fit'. An additional bonus is that it is available in sizes 4UK to 18UK too! Buy now via ASOS was £58, now £46.50      Have you enjoyed this article? Let us know via social media using our links below!

The 10 Pink Dresses You Need For Summer 2022 - and How to Style Them

How-to Wear the Most Elegant Monochrome Looks

What does monochromatic mean in fashion? A superfast way to change up your look, whilst remaining in trend, is to mix different gradients of one colour. Monochromatic dressing isn’t a new trend, as such, it’s been something many have chosen to wear since fashion began. Current key trending looks include bright shades of yellow, blue and green – and we love them all! The choice of wearing one colour may make you feel like a walking faux pas, but when done right it can look amazing. A few of our favourite looks hit the catwalk recently showcasing their monochromatic pairings. Images by Max Mara 2022 Spring Runway. Images showcasing Alexandre Vauthier 2022.   Choosing your monochromatic spring look Before you throw on a solid colour, it’s a good idea to find out what colour is for you and works best for you. We all have different undertones in that just because you may have the same skin tone as someone it doesn't mean you have the same undertone. Skin tone can change in various ways, including lotions, sunlight, scarring etc. but the undertone will always remain the same. Sourcing what our undertone is allows us to pick the best clothes that complement our skin and therefore can make us feel confident in what we’re wearing. What colours suit my undertone? There are typically three undertones that we talk about when labelling what ‘group’ we belong to. Cool Neutral Warm There is a shade for everyone. Where you might find that you can look washed out when wearing, for example, a solid black colour, you might find that choosing a lighter black, like charcoal or even a darker grey, will work better for you depending on the undertone. So, how do I know if I have cool or warm undertones? Masterclass recently shared how they suggest you find out what your undertone is. Our favourite way, which is really simple to try, is using a white sheet of paper against your face whilst in front of a mirror. They say that you should be '...In a place with bright, natural light, [and] hold up a piece of printer paper and look at how your skin reacts to it. If your skin looks pinkish against the paper, you probably have cooler undertones; if your skin looks yellow against the paper, you’re probably a warm tone. If you do not see an undertone at all, you likely have neutral undertones.' Cool Under Tones Cool skin tones are best paired with colours that are, coincidentally, on the cool end of the colour spectrum. Colours that suit this type of skin tone include darker greens, deep purples as well as bright blues and pinks. What're more, lighter shades of yellow and red can pair perfectly too when going into spring and summer. Celebrities with cool under tones include Mindy Kaling and Anne Hathaway.   Warm Undertones Warm skin tones are, naturally, best paired with colours on the warmer part of the colour spectrum. Additionally, they work best with earth shades when looking for the right colour. The best colours a warm undertone could wear would include the likes of deep green and mustard yellows. Of course, there are other shades on this spectrum that would work just as well, and these include coral within the cooler palette and darker shades like moss and olive when looking for warmer colours as we head away from summer and into Autumn/Winter. Celebrities with warm under tones include Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez.   Neutral Undertones Having a neutral undertone is definitely the best of both worlds, it means your wardrobe can be flexible because any shade will suit you! You shouldn’t have to worry about looking washed out, as most colours will complement your tone. Just be sure to choose the right ones, especially when stepping away from clothing and choosing makeup – it’s essential that although you can choose any type, you want to make sure it is relative to the shade of your skin. Celebrities with neutral under tones include Kristen Stewart, Miranda Kerr, Kerry Washington, Selena Gomez and Julianne Moore.   Another way to find out your undertone Another way to identify your under tones is by checking the inside of your wrist and the colours visible. Cool Undertone Monochromatic Looks Making the best looks using the cool undertone rulebook we took some items we loved. Here, we took our Branwell Pencil dress in Powder Blue, paired it with these Mango Audrey Asymmetric Stiletto Court shoes in blue (John Lewis). Adding to these two, we next chose our Weston Sleeved Bolero in the shade Cobalt Blue. And, finally, we got our eyes on this cute bright blue Ted Baker Bagira Leather Crossbody bag (£77 from John Lewis). Next up, is the prettiest colour of the season – purple. Combining our favourite looks, of different shades, can work perfectly when dressing formally or casually. Firstly, we chose this Rina Tank in shade Gentle Lavender from All Saints and paired it with these Hot Squash Purple Luxe-Lounge Wide Leg Crepe Trousers! Finishing the summer look with these Zara Lilac High-Heel Court Shoes (£29.99) complete the lilac look. For the perfect summer evening cover-up, we also loved the look of this lilac denim oversized shirt which is affordably cute at £25.99 from New Look.   Warm Undertone Monochromatic Looks Following the suggestions above we’ve searched for some super cute, and chic, dark green and mustard wardrobe looks. Here, we've found a leg-lengthening pair of super-high-waist wide-leg tailored trousers from Collusion (ASOS) that would pair perfectly with our Fulica Long Sleeve Jacket and these Simply Be Wedge Sandals.   For our next neutral look, we decided to check out our favourite coral peach pieces. The meaning behind the colour pink With pink symbolising youth, good health and playfulness it also continues to stand for femininity and represents both friendships and affection, as well as inner peace and harmony. With the shade being associated with both love and romance, it's understandably a shade that many enjoy wearing whether it's formally or casually. What colours go with wearing a pink dress? Wearing a light/bright pink dress can have a positive, uplifting effect on your mood so why stop there? There are two choices really when it comes to complimenting your pink dress. You can wear a different pink tone to add to your accessories, makeup, footwear and nails. You can wear a completely different colour, to allow those areas to be separate. The shades on either side of pink on the wheel, the analogous colours, include the red, purple and blue tones. The outfit looks that we’ve found which follow the ‘colour theory wheel rules’ include these gorgeous looks: Complementary Looks:   Analogous Looks: Wear Pink with Black or White Colours:   Make Formal Pink into Casual Pink Looks:   Wearing similar tones with your pink: Shades that suit pink include other light colours, like blue and beige. Choosing a colour that is on the same opacity as your chosen pink is always a good idea too. We suggest colour combinations like the ones below. The Pink Dresses and Suits You Need for 2022

BROWN Is The New Black...

Max Mara made their statement known at Milan Fashion Week at the end of February. Brown may very well be the new Black. With models taking to the catwalk showcasing a variety of designs and patterns the use of the colour brown was evident. Models walking the Max Mara Milan 2022 Fall Show   There's a lot more to a brand using the brown shade than you may think. Whilst it seems to be the younger, less known sister of the Black palette it is making its reappearance as we look ahead to Autumn/Fall of 2022. Verywellmind.com shares how often the colour brown is "solid, much like the earth, and it's a colour often associated with resilience, dependability, security, and safety." Along with the surroundings of autumn offering shades from the brown and orange palette, having clothing to match can have a positive effect - just like how you may feel compelled to wear bright yellow shades in summer. The Continued Love for Teddy Fabric With the use of their beloved Teddy fabric in a cosy brown shade, it's not hard to see why brands like New Look, ASOS and Next have rolled out the much-loved fabric on items ranging from jumpers to handbags and hair accessories. If brown isn’t your chosen shade, then there are plenty of other colours to try out. All Shades of Brown With brown making its statement, lighter brown shade beige also made an appearance in full-autumn-cosy-wear.   The Colour Psychology of Brown The colour brown is said to be a steady, grounded shade. With the colour being the shade of earth, of nature, it's understandable to see it less desirable than brighter colours like pink or blue. However, the power psychology of brown is more than you may think. Wearing the colour brown can aid in representing reliability and stability. Additionally, Brown is believed to be a relaxing colour. With the shade linking to an increase of tryptophan (related to sleep and our immune systems) and serotonin (linked to mood.) Also, in an article by Brightside, they share how "...people who like to wear the colour brown are slightly conservative, respect their elders and always look for peace, stability, and strength in everything". Incorporating Brown into Your Look Whilst wearing brown is not the hardest shade to wear, compared to bright yellows and neon greens, it can take some getting used to if you’re used to opting for black. Adding small amounts to your outfit can ease the doom of introducing any new colour to your palette. We took to Pinterest to find out favourite outfits that feature small introductions of brown without being overpowering.   Here, for Max Mara again in Milan for Fashion Week we can see the much loved teddy fabric. In the chosen shade of brown, which they’ve used as an accompanying item instead of using it all over. Additionally, to the right, we have Vogue Williams showing how to perfectly pair the likes of a brown sweater with casual skinny jeans for a simple walk around town.   Adding brown to your palette doesn’t have to be only in your clothing. Instead, you could incorporate the Autumn/Fall 2022 shade in with your accessories and footwear. To the right, model Emily Ratajkowski is pictured with her dog, wearing a light brown coat combined with a white top, blue jeans and stunning brown boots.    Clothing, tick. Footwear, tick. Accessories, tick. Next? Makeup. You can calm the power of the standard smoky eye by using lighter shades. Shades like brown and cream, compared to the harshness of black which can be difficult to incorporate into daytime looks.     Adding Brown to Nails Adding the colour brown to anything can be difficult at times, but more so with nails. With brown comes the instant thought of earth and dirt/soil. So, we suggest going for a mixture of shades like these below.   Our Brown Dress Collection Adding brown to your wardrobe can start with small accessories or by adding the likes of a dress or skirt. In the video below we flip through all of our stunning products, in brown shades. You can get a hold of each of these items on our website.   Can you wear black with brown? In short, absolutely. It may be though that with both brown and black being strong, independent shades, you should choose one as your outfit shade. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. You can combine black with brown in various ways, whether it is brown shoes and black tops or a brown coat with black boots. Here we go through a few of our favourite brown/black combo outfits that we’re sure you’ll get some inspo from.   Long Sleeved Brown Dresses Wearing long sleeved dresses isn’t exclusive to winter. What’s more, we create each Fitzrovia using a couture stretch fabric tailored for a flattering fit and, essentially, it comes with a concealed zip and vent (within centre back) to allow ease of movement.
