The 5 Yellow dresses for Summer 2022

Why you should wear Yellow this summer It is said that Yellow is perhaps the most energetic of the warm colours. It is associated with laughter, hope and sunshine. Accents of yellow help give your design energy and will make the viewer feel optimistic and cheerful. So, whilst we're feeling like jumping into Summer (not long now, folks!) why not take the chance to bring Summer into our lives a little early?  What colour goes well all shades of Yellow? The colour yellow goes with a variety of other shades, however, these are typically other shades of the same strength. To find out more about matching shades we refer to the colour theory wheel. We’ve previously mentioned the colour wheel in our past articles, so here’s a super quick refresh: “The colour wheel is a visual representation of colours, with hues arranged according to wavelength. Colour wheels allow colour relationships to represent geometrically and show the relationship between primary colours, secondary colours and tertiary colours – Invision App” With looks in mind, we are going to focus on two of the colour wheel sections: complementary and analogous. Complementary simple means the colours that are found opposite your main shade. So, for a yellow shade, you might choose purple or blue. Whereas with Analogous, this refers to shades that are on either side of your chosen colour. So, again, for a yellow shade, you might choose to add green or orange, along with other shades of yellow. 5 Yellow Dresses You Need this Summer! We do, however, think that a variety of shades go with a yellow dress. Here we’re going to go through a few different styles that we think would go perfect with your yellow look. The Stiletto Taking some inspo from our Orla Asymmetric dress we can see that although black may not be the most blending of shades with yellow, it is a staple shade that goes with everything. These open-toe pin-buckle fastening stilettos offer height and elegance. Where we have paired them here with the image of our dress in mind, they are also perfectly paired for a more casual look (also pictured). Alas, however, with the right shade of yellow in mind we find that the choice of wearing white shoes can pair perfectly. Here we’ve chosen the Public Desire pair that features both a high point heel and tie-leg design. Buy now via ASOS £32.99 Alternatively, you could also try these for size: the Nesha yellow tie stiletto, £38 Squared toed boots have been the trending item for many a winter, however, recently we've seen a surge in square-toed sandals. Here, we've chosen a short stiletto design that features a strappy tie and features the most sought-after sole. BROWN Is The New Black...

Max Mara made their statement known at Milan Fashion Week at the end of February. Brown may very well be the new Black. With models taking to the catwalk showcasing a variety of designs and patterns the use of the colour brown was evident. Models walking the Max Mara Milan 2022 Fall Show   There's a lot more to a brand using the brown shade than you may think. Whilst it seems to be the younger, less known sister of the Black palette it is making its reappearance as we look ahead to Autumn/Fall of 2022. Verywellmind.com shares how often the colour brown is "solid, much like the earth, and it's a colour often associated with resilience, dependability, security, and safety." Along with the surroundings of autumn offering shades from the brown and orange palette, having clothing to match can have a positive effect - just like how you may feel compelled to wear bright yellow shades in summer. The Continued Love for Teddy Fabric With the use of their beloved Teddy fabric in a cosy brown shade, it's not hard to see why brands like New Look, ASOS and Next have rolled out the much-loved fabric on items ranging from jumpers to handbags and hair accessories. If brown isn’t your chosen shade, then there are plenty of other colours to try out. All Shades of Brown With brown making its statement, lighter brown shade beige also made an appearance in full-autumn-cosy-wear.   The Colour Psychology of Brown The colour brown is said to be a steady, grounded shade. With the colour being the shade of earth, of nature, it's understandable to see it less desirable than brighter colours like pink or blue. However, the power psychology of brown is more than you may think. Wearing the colour brown can aid in representing reliability and stability. Additionally, Brown is believed to be a relaxing colour. With the shade linking to an increase of tryptophan (related to sleep and our immune systems) and serotonin (linked to mood.) Also, in an article by Brightside, they share how "...people who like to wear the colour brown are slightly conservative, respect their elders and always look for peace, stability, and strength in everything". Incorporating Brown into Your Look Whilst wearing brown is not the hardest shade to wear, compared to bright yellows and neon greens, it can take some getting used to if you’re used to opting for black. Adding small amounts to your outfit can ease the doom of introducing any new colour to your palette. We took to Pinterest to find out favourite outfits that feature small introductions of brown without being overpowering.   Here, for Max Mara again in Milan for Fashion Week we can see the much loved teddy fabric. In the chosen shade of brown, which they’ve used as an accompanying item instead of using it all over. Additionally, to the right, we have Vogue Williams showing how to perfectly pair the likes of a brown sweater with casual skinny jeans for a simple walk around town.   Adding brown to your palette doesn’t have to be only in your clothing. Instead, you could incorporate the Autumn/Fall 2022 shade in with your accessories and footwear. To the right, model Emily Ratajkowski is pictured with her dog, wearing a light brown coat combined with a white top, blue jeans and stunning brown boots.    Clothing, tick. Footwear, tick. Accessories, tick. Next? Makeup. You can calm the power of the standard smoky eye by using lighter shades. Shades like brown and cream, compared to the harshness of black which can be difficult to incorporate into daytime looks.     Adding Brown to Nails Adding the colour brown to anything can be difficult at times, but more so with nails. With brown comes the instant thought of earth and dirt/soil. So, we suggest going for a mixture of shades like these below.   Our Brown Dress Collection Adding brown to your wardrobe can start with small accessories or by adding the likes of a dress or skirt. In the video below we flip through all of our stunning products, in brown shades. You can get a hold of each of these items on our website.   Can you wear black with brown? In short, absolutely. It may be though that with both brown and black being strong, independent shades, you should choose one as your outfit shade. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. You can combine black with brown in various ways, whether it is brown shoes and black tops or a brown coat with black boots. Here we go through a few of our favourite brown/black combo outfits that we’re sure you’ll get some inspo from.   Long Sleeved Brown Dresses Wearing long sleeved dresses isn’t exclusive to winter. BROWN Is The New Black...

The Lady in Red - Our Favourite Red Looks Right Now.

The meaning behind the colour red There is more to the colour red than, quite literally, meets the eye. Whilst there are obvious signs like how red, orange and yellow are warm shades and compliment one another by sitting on either side of each other. There are other, emotional, terms than can involve how warm colours themselves can conjure up feelings of both happiness and energy. [1] Reasons You Should Wear Red Besides being a stunningly bright colour, there are other reasons why we reckon you should be wearing the colour red. Here’s why: It’s a classic fashion colour When you choose the colour red it is not something you shy away from. The power colour is a status shade, especially when it comes to statement dresses or bold lipstick. With celebrities such as the Hadid sisters, Taylor Swift and Rihanna, to name but a few, wearing red on the red carpet - it's not hard to see why the shade of red in clothing is a life-long love affair. Red is Power and Romance Yes, you read that right! Both power and romance go hand in hand here with our favourite red shade. If you were to instantaneously pick a shade when thinking of Valentine’s Day then we wouldn’t be surprised if you were thinking of red (roses, optional). Add to that the thought of how a feminine suit may look classy in black, but with colour, it adds extra oomph. And, last but by no means least, how the red lipstick played a vital role in the 20th century during the Suffragettes movement – with Asia Milia Ware citing for Teen Vogue how going by the early 20th century “…red lipstick was synonymous with power and strength, specifically during the Suffragettes movement. The movement, which campaigned for votes for middle-class, property-owning women and believed in peaceful protest, had quite the connection to beauty. As these women fought for their rights, red lipstick became a part of their uniform. The bold and dauntless red was feminine, yet daring and powerful. It became symbolic of strength during a time when men were trying to strip that away from women.” It looks great in all weather Where some colours, like yellow, suit happier, spring-y-er times, the colour red works all year round. Whether it be a red hat, scarf, glove, statement coat, trousers or perhaps envy-inducing heels – you cannot go wrong with a touch of rouge.   Red is more than just a shade There is a lot more to it than it is a stunning colour. In fact, evidence even shows how the red shade roots down to how ‘…colouration is associated with higher levels of testosterone and dominance in many animal species.' [2] Additionally, colours like red, orange and yellow can evoke different emotions in individuals. Every single person is different, obviously, however, research has shown that such shades can conjure feelings of both warmth and anger. Furthermore, Forbes found that the shade is so intense that it has more psychological and emotional connections than any other colour on the spectrum. How to Wear Red The colour wheel is a visual representation of colours, with hues arranged according to wavelength. Colour wheels allow colour relationships to represent geometrically and show the relationship between primary colours, secondary colours and tertiary colours – Invision App Using the colour wheel for the shade red Using the colour theory wheel, you can use both complimentary and analogous schemes to combine into the perfect outfit. Complimentary colours of red include shades that are opposite it on the wheel, which would be green/blue. The shades on either side of the red on the wheel, the analogous colours, include those in pink/purple/orange tones.  The outfit looks that we’ve found which follow the ‘colour theory wheel rules’ include these gorgeous looks: Complimentary Colour Looks   Analogous Colour Looks   Red with Denim With blue and green being complimentary colours to red, you can’t go wrong with pairing a pair of red boots or flats with a pair of your favourite denim. Red is the type of colour that can be incorporated into any outfit, and when it comes to finding the right shade/tone for your skin tone then all you need to do is find out your undertone. So, when it comes to choosing your shade we suggest using the undertone theory. This simply means picking out the undertone of your skin to choose which shade of red would look better on you. (The last thing you want is to invest in a statement piece only for you to look tired and washed out.) To identify your undertone all you need to do is check your wrist. Where you see your veins, make a note of how you see them. Are they a shade of purple? This means you have cool undertones. Whereas, if your veins look more green then you're considered to have warm undertones. If, however, you find your veins being neither or a mix of both then you might find you're in fact... neutral. It doesn't sound very exciting, does it? But wait... it is! Neutral tones are fortunate in that they can wear pretty much any red shade and suit it perfectly.    Cool Undertones – often found in light, pale skin. Cool undertones may be best to try dresses with less POP red colour tone. A dress that features more hints of orange will help illuminate your complexion. Shades like coral red will work perfect. See our Lakewood Pencil Dress in Burnt Orange or our Tina Pencil in the same shade. Neural Tones Neural tones, as mentioned, are fortunate in that any kind of red clothing would suit you! Check out our Casares 3/4 Sleeve Swing Dress in Scarlet Red as well as our Thruxton Maxi Pencil dress in Electric Red. Warm Undertones, often found in darker skin. Those with warm undertones may find that the best types of red to wear include those that have hues of blue and plum. Try out our Liv Wrap Dress and Kubrick Asymmetric Neckline. Celebs in Red by Skin Tone Extremely Light Skin Tone Fair Skinned Tone Fair-Beige Skin Tone Olive or Light Brown Skin Tone Dark Brown Skin Tone Very Dark Skin Tone   However, essentially, fashion is all about what you feel good in – so if it doesn’t match the desired skin tone but you love it? Wear it! Confidence looks AMAZING on you. Oh, and tag us in it too!
